There are many brands, varieties, and costs of boilers & heating systems to choose from for your property.  So there is a lot for you to take into consideration!

The type of boiler or heating system that you choose will depend upon your own individual requirements.  It will also depend on the requirements of your home and those living within it, on top of the budget that you can afford.

How Green you want to be can also affect your decision!

The four main varieties of boiler or heating system that you can choose from are:

    1. The Common – Heat Only Boiler
    2. A System Boiler
    3. Combi Boiler / Condensing Boiler
    4. A new Heat Pump!

    1. Heat only boiler / Heat only boiler installation

The Common Boiler / Heat Only Boiler is also known as a regular boiler, a conventional boiler, and a traditional model boiler, etc.

A common boiler is usually standard with older residential properties.

With a regular common boiler, you will have both a hot water cylinder and a separate cold storage tank.

    Advice for older homes

This variety allows you to run hot water to one or more than one location for larger properties!

    3. New Heating Pumps

Please take a look at our Boiler Page for a selection of Boilers and their prices.

For example, the cost of your boiler installation often depends on the brand of boiler that you choose (see boiler brands page).

Also what fuel type and size of boiler that you choose can have can affect the overall boiler installation cost. Gas boilers are usually the most common type of boilers but there are also oil-based boilers.

When it comes to new boilers and boiler installation services, you should also compare units from the same boiler category.

What is meant by a Condensing Boilers?

The terms condensing and non-condensing can be confusing to people shopping for a new boiler.

Presently, it is stated by law that new boilers must use condensing technology. In short, you don’t have to worry about getting a condensing boiler.

Condensing is not a type of boiler, but rather technical feature. In a Condensing boiler you get a much bigger heat exchanger. They also produce additional heat from the fuel. The same fuel that would have been wasted in a non- Condensing boiler. As a result, they are more efficient.

non-condensing boilers are less efficient by 50% since a lot of heat was lost in the combustion exhaust gases. On the other hand, new boilers would capture this heat and use it to heat water.

condensing boilers are energy efficient by 90%. They use excess energy to heat your property. Not to mention, they are environmentally friendly and reduce your heating bill.

Can I get the next-day boiler installation?

Yes, you can If you order your boiler before 12 pm during the colder months, and 2 pm in the warmer months on the previous day then you can get next day installation services.

This is next-day boiler fitting nationwide in England & Wales, so you do not have to be without heating for long, even in the depths of winter.

    FAQs

How long does it take a plumber to install a boiler?

A new boiler installation will take between six hours and four days.

Should I replace my 30 year old boiler?

The industry standard advice is that you should replace your boiler every 10 years, however some people still have boilers working that are over 30 years old.

Do you need to change pipes for combi boiler?

According to Gas Safe regulations, a 22mm supply pipe must be installed from the combi boiler to the meter. So, if you have an old 15mm pipe, it should be replaced. Old lead pipes must be replaced as well, along with any pipe that is not demonstrating appropriate pressure to the boiler because of carbon deposits in the pipe.

What happens if a boiler is oversized?

Simply explained, excessively large boilers produce too much heat that the system cannot dissipate.

    Are boilers worth upgrading?

a less efficient boiler costs you more money to run. Modern boilers are A-rated and work at more than 90% efficiency, whereas G-rated models run at 70% or less.
